Kwara Government Commits to Healthcare Workers' Welfare

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to the welfare and professional development of healthcare workers, as stated by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru. This assurance was given during a courtesy visit from the newly inaugurated executive of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Kwara State Branch, in Ilorin.

Dr Nuru emphasized the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's recognition of health workers' contributions and the implementation of 100 percent CONMESS and CONHESS for eligible health-sector professionals to attract and retain skilled personnel. She noted the commencement of an internship program for pharmacy graduates and assured that the government does not owe salaries or allowances to medical doctors, with payments made timely.

Nuru encouraged ongoing dialogue between the NMA and the government to address challenges in healthcare delivery. NMA Chairman Dr Suleiman Jamiu expressed gratitude for the government's support, particularly regarding the National Residency Training Fund (NRTF), and pledged continued cooperation on healthcare issues.
