Kidnappers Demand ₦150 Million for Eight Church Members

Residents of Omugo in the Ifelodun Local Government Area are expressing grave concerns over the kidnapping of eight church members from the Evangel Church on March 22, 2026, during a church service. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of ₦150 million for their release.

This incident marks the third kidnapping in the community within six months, exacerbating fears and leading to displacement among residents, some of whom have reportedly fled their homes. The spokesperson for the community, Olaitan Tajudeen Jimoh, highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis faced by the victims, particularly the elderly who remain captive under harsh conditions.

The community is urging government security agencies to take immediate action, warning that failure to do so may embolden further attacks and violence in neighboring areas. They are advocating for a joint task force involving the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to ensure a rapid response and sustained security coverage.
