Gunmen Abduct Eight Worshippers in Kwara Church Attack

On a Sunday, gunmen attacked the Evangel Church West Africa (ECWA) in Omugo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, abducting eight congregants. During the chaos, sporadic gunfire caused panic among the worshippers, leading to the escape of three victims, while five remain with the abductors.

Bolanle Olukoju, the state commissioner for communication, confirmed the incident and stated that the government has tasked security forces and local vigilantes to ensure the apprehension of the bandits. The government condemned the attack on a religious place and commended the immediate response of security forces.

Following intelligence reports of potential coordinated attacks in three local government areas, including Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin, the state government has heightened security measures and urged community members to collaborate with security forces to protect lives and property. The situation remains tense as residents await further action from authorities.
