Family Appeals for Help in Kidnapped Widow Case

The family of Mosunmola Adekunl, a hearing-impaired widow, is appealing for assistance following her kidnapping on March 22, 2026, alongside seven worshippers during a church service at the Evangel Church in Omugo Community, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State. She has been held captive for nearly three months, raising concerns among family members and disability advocates.

Joi Bolarin, Executive Director of Jibor Foundation, described her continued captivity as painful and unacceptable, emphasizing her vulnerability due to her disability. Adekunl, who is unable to hear or respond to verbal instructions, faces additional risks in captivity.

Her sister, Rachael Adedokun, made an emotional appeal to President Bola Tinubu and security agencies for urgent intervention. The community leader, Jimoh, noted Adekunl's dedication as a church worker despite her disability.

The National Human Rights Commission has also expressed serious concerns regarding the ongoing insecurity and its impact on vulnerable individuals in the region.
