Female Rep Aspirant Pledges Development for Ilorin-West

Mopelola Abdulmalik Bashir, a female representative aspirant for the Ilorin-West/Asa constituency, has committed to addressing significant developmental gaps in the area if given the mandate to represent the constituency in the 2027 elections. As a women's rights advocate and former Commissioner for Women Affairs, she has identified critical issues such as inadequate drinking water, poor road conditions, and the adverse effects of climate-induced farming disasters.

Bashir, who is running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), acknowledged the efforts of the current Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, but insists that more needs to be done for women's economic empowerment. She aims to leverage her experience in the executive arm of government to provide quality representation.

Additionally, she is involved in civic advocacy for gender equity and youth engagement, contributing to the establishment of a gender-composite framework in Kwara State, which guarantees a minimum of 35% representation for women in political appointments.
