Kwara Fire Service Tackles Electrical Fire in Oloje Phase 2

On October 27, 2026, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a fire emergency at Lawyer Lambo Street, Oloje Phase 2, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State. The fire service received a distress call and arrived at the scene at 02:41hrs.
The incident involved three buildings, including two four-bedroom flats and a severely affected room-and-parlour self-contained apartment. Community members rescued the occupants of the self-contained apartment, who had recently welcomed a newborn.
One vehicle was completely burnt, while firefighters saved two others. The second four-bedroom flat suffered kitchen damage, and an adjoining travel and tours office was also affected.
A vulcanising workshop was destroyed after a high-tension transmission line fell on it, causing sparks that ignited the fire. Preliminary findings indicated that the fire resulted from the collapse of a concrete pole supporting a 33kV electricity transmission line.
The Chief Fire Officer, CFS Alabi Muhammed, expressed sympathy to those affected and urged the public to maintain safety setbacks around electricity infrastructure.
