Kwara Governor Advocates for Ethical AI Framework

During the 4th Biennial International Conference at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq called for a legal framework to ensure the ethical deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture, health, and education. He emphasized the need for collaboration with research investors and innovators to pilot AI solutions at the governmental level.

AbdulRazaq highlighted the Ilorin Innovation Hub's initiative, TechUnlimit, aimed at training youth in data analysis and software development. He also discussed the Kwaralearn program, which utilizes real-time data to improve learning outcomes in public primary schools across 16 local government areas.

Bashir Adeniyi, Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, stressed the importance of AI in modernizing customs administration and enhancing transparency. He noted that Nigeria's instant payment system is evolving, with electronic payment transactions projected to reach ₦1.07 quadrillion by 2024, reflecting a significant increase in digital transactions.
