Kwara Governor Awards N2m to Debate Champions

On a recent occasion, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq rewarded five students with N2 million each for their victory in the International Junior Secondary School Debate Championship held in Malaysia. The students, Lawal Maryam, Kikeloma Jatto, Rahmatullah Oniz, Paul Uniti, Fatimah Abdulrahman, and Thaini Priscilla Aremu, represented Nigeria and emerged as champions.

The governor announced the rewards during a reception at the Government House in Ilorin, expressing pride in the students' achievement and the support from their families and mentors. Additionally, their tutor received N500,000 as a guidance cash reward, and the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board had previously allocated N3 million for the students' trip to Malaysia.

Abdulrazaq emphasized the importance of investing in education and commended the students for their hard work and dedication. The event was attended by various officials, including members of the Kwara State House of Assembly and local government chairmen.
