Kwara Government Secures Affordable Medicine Supply

The Kwara State Government has initiated a collaboration with pharmaceutical companies to secure a consistent supply of essential medicines in state-owned hospitals, aiming to make drugs more affordable for patients. This engagement involved major pharmaceutical vendors and was disclosed by Dr Abdulraheem Malik, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB), during a strategic meeting at the Ministry of Health Conference Room in Ilorin.

Malik stated that the government is enhancing the financial independence and operational efficiency of the Essential Drugs Programme (EDP) to ensure timely payments to suppliers. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved expedited payments to drug vendors, reinforcing the commitment to build supplier confidence.
