Kwara Government Orders Reopening of Schools Closed Over Insecurity, Nigerian Army Sustains Offensive Operations

The Kwara State Government has directed the reopening of schools that were previously closed in areas affected by insecurity. The decision, announced by the State's Commission for Education and Human Capital Development, is effective from Monday, February 2, 2026.

Security operations, including those by the Nigerian Army's 22 Armoured Brigade, continue to combat terrorist elements in joint operations in Kwara State. Troops are actively engaged in neutralizing threats to public safety, including schools.

The statement emphasized the ongoing security measures to ensure the safety of educational institutions. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development's Press Secretary on behalf of the Acting Deputy Director of the 2 Division Army Public Relations.

The Nigerian Army's Sector 3 Operations Fansan Yamma disclosed the significant achievements made with massive support from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
