Kogi State Reopens Schools After Three-Week Lockdown

Kogi State has officially reopened its schools after a three-week lockdown aimed at addressing security issues. The announcement was made by the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Matthew Eri Salami, on behalf of the State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jone.

The decision to fast-track the mid-term break was influenced by the Kogi State Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPP), Pastor Reuben Jimoh, who communicated the need for this measure to safeguard students, teachers, and school environments. The schools will resume on the 16th, and there will be no classes until that date.

This decision was based on credible intelligence regarding security threats, emphasizing the importance of protective measures around educational institutions.
