Kwara Massacre: Village Head Criticizes Military for 10-Hour Delay in Response to Bandit Attack

Umar Bio Salihu, the village head of Woro community in Kwara state, revealed that the military took 10 hours to respond after he called them during a bandit attack. The incident resulted in numerous deaths and destruction across several villages.

Salihu expressed disappointment over the delayed security operation, which began around 5 pm but saw soldiers arriving at 3 am the following day. He mentioned that there was no air interdiction during the attack.

The village head attributed the assault to the Mamuda terrorist group and denied any religious motivation behind the killings, noting that the victims were Muslims. Concerns were raised about compromised security due to the withdrawal of soldiers from their previous station following an earlier attack.

The community rejected the terrorist group's ideology and dismissed claims of religiously motivated killings.
