NSCDC Handles 36 Domestic Violence Cases in Kwara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State disclosed that it managed 36 domestic violence cases between January and June 2026. This information was shared in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola.

State Commandant Abbas Mohammed highlighted the achievement of securing a life imprisonment sentence against a convicted sexual offender during this period. The NSCDC also dealt with 19 child custody disputes, resolving 15 while four remain pending.

Additionally, the command received 38 cases of child abandonment, with six resolved and ongoing investigations for the others. Nine abduction cases were reported, resulting in the rescue and reunion of four victims with their families.

Currently, eight cases involving rape, sexual assault, and child molestation are before the courts. Mohammed commended the Gender Unit's professionalism and urged residents to report incidents of domestic violence and other gender-based crimes for prompt intervention.
