Over 200 Feared Dead in Deadly Attack in Kwara State, Nigeria

In Kwara State, Nigeria, over 200 people are feared dead following a deadly attack by armed religious extremists in the Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area. Dozens of women have been abducted, and families have been displaced as panic spreads to the neighboring Borgu area.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers stormed the Woro community around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, launching a coordinated assault until late into the night. The military aircraft briefly forced the attackers to withdraw, but they returned and continued the killings until the early hours of the morning.

As of now, 170 bodies have been buried, with 100 victims still missing. The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, arrived in Woro to assess the situation and has refused to leave until reinforcements are deployed.

The Governor has condemned the attack and offered prayers for the victims, while directing the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide urgent support to survivors. Panic has spread to the Borgu area, with residents fleeing due to the extremist threat.
