Kwara PDP Confirms Participation in Abuja Convention 2026

The Kwara State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its readiness to participate in the upcoming national convention set for March 29, 2026. This decision was made during a press briefing in Ilorin on Wednesday, led by governorship aspirant Ali Ahmad, following a crucial meeting of the state executive committee.

Ahmad explained that stakeholders carefully considered the implications of attending the convention so soon after the Ibadan convention held last November. The stakeholders unanimously resolved that the state chapter would fully participate in the Abuja convention and send a delegation.

Ahmad emphasized the importance of reviewing the outcomes of the convention afterward to guide the party's direction ahead of the 2027 general elections. He reiterated that the PDP remains a formidable political force in Kwara State, with widespread acceptance across all 16 local government areas.

Ahmad also addressed concerns regarding adherence to legal processes during previous conventions and confirmed that the current leadership remains a viable platform for contesting elections in Nigeria.
