Kwara Police Arrest Cultists and Drug Peddlers in Ilorin

On Friday, the Kwara State Police Command, under the spokesperson Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, confirmed the arrest of several suspects linked to cultism and drug trafficking activities in Ilorin. The operation targeted individuals posing as motorcycle riders at Tank Junction, an area notorious for criminal activities.

A total of 24 motorcycles, including five unregistered ones, were seized during the raid. Various illicit substances were recovered, including cannabis sativa, crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as "ice"), and tramadol.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the location had become a hub for drug peddling and recruitment for unlawful groups, posing a significant threat to public peace and security in the metropolitan area. The police are continuing efforts to apprehend fleeing accomplices and dismantle the broader criminal network associated with the suspects.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody and will face charges upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
