Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists in Kwara State

On June 11, 2023, the Kwara State Police Command's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) apprehended four suspected cultists in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area. The operation followed intelligence reports regarding cult activities and violent crimes in the community.

The suspects, identified as Idowu Akored and others, attempted to resist arrest by attacking officers with broken bottles but were subdued without any injuries reported. Following their arrest, the suspects were transferred to Ilorin for further investigation.

Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, spokesperson for the police command, stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend additional members of the criminal network. Ojo Adekimi, the Commissioner of Police, praised the professionalism and courage of the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command's commitment to tackling cultism and violent crime across the state, urging the public to provide timely information to assist in combating crime and improving public safety.
