Kwara Police Arrest Eight Cultists, Seize Firearms

The Kwara State Police Command arrested eight suspected cultists during a coordinated operation across Ilorin metropolis. The operation, carried out by the Anti-Cultism Unit in collaboration with a tactical team, followed credible intelligence regarding cult activities.

The raid occurred in the Akua Fagba area of Ilorin and led to the arrest of suspects identified as Ismail Sodiq (35), Ibrahim Sahe (26), Feyikemi Odoj (28), Ishola Faisat (23), Abubakar Zainab (22), Azeez Olarenwaju (27), Soliu Ibrahim (22), and Abdulbasit Abdulkadir (24). During the operation, police recovered two locally made pistols, one pump-action shotgun, two cut-to-size shotguns, and 25 rounds of ammunition.

The police emphasized their commitment to tackling cultism and violent crime in the state, with ongoing investigations to determine the suspects' involvement in a larger criminal network. Those found culpable will face prosecution according to the law.

The operation's success was attributed to intelligence-led policing strategies under Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
