Kwara Polytechnic Appoints Dr. Awolola Olabisi as Acting Rector Amidst Student Protests

Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin has appointed Dr. Awolola Olabisi as the acting rector, replacing Abdul Jimoh Mohammed who stepped aside due to recent student protests.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq directed the appointment and also set up a committee to investigate the causes of the protests. Dr.

Olabisi, a distinguished academic, is expected to bring her experience and visionary leadership to ensure smooth academic operations and a conducive environment for students and staff. The committee, led by Ibrahim Sulyman and Nafisat Buge, is tasked with probing the issues and making recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

Mercy Olufunk Shittu is also a member of the committee. Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu is the commission's spokesperson in the tertiary education sector.
