Kwara State Revitalizes 100 Health Facilities, Hires 1,000 Workers

The Kwara State government is undertaking a significant initiative to strengthen primary healthcare delivery by revitalizing 100 primary health care facilities across the state and recruiting 1,000 health workers, including doctors, nurses, and midwives. Nusirat Elelu, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, announced this during a citizen town hall meeting held in Ilorin, which involved stakeholders from all 16 local government areas.

The project aims to ensure that quality healthcare services are accessible at the grassroots level, addressing the abandonment of healthcare facilities over the years. The revitalization will ensure that each primary health care facility is equipped and staffed adequately to serve as the first point of contact within the healthcare system.

The initiative also includes community engagement to improve health literacy and encourage the use of essential healthcare services. Amina Bello, the state coordinator for the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, commended the stakeholders for their support in improving healthcare delivery in Kwara.
