Kwara State Boosts Mechanized Farming and Gender Inclusivity

The Kwara State Government is strengthening its partnership with farmer associations to enhance mechanized farming across the state, as stated in a release from the KWACRES office on Tuesday. During a meeting with the leadership of the Kwara State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), project coordinator Shamsideen Aregb assured farmers of ongoing government support to improve food production through mechanized agriculture.

The initiative, backed by the World Bank, aims to provide essential farming equipment, including tractors, to address food security challenges. Aregb acknowledged concerns regarding operational challenges and emphasized the need for gender equality in agricultural interventions, particularly for women.

AFAN chairman Shuaib Ajibola commended KWACRES for its efforts and announced plans for an agricultural expo to engage stakeholders. The initiative aims to empower women through technical training and ensure their active participation in mechanized farming, with a focus on creating a gender-friendly operational environment.
