Labour Party Sets Primaries Date and Fees for 2027 Elections

The Labour Party has announced the schedule for its primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a nomination fee of ₦50 million for presidential aspirants. According to a statement from the party's national public secretary, the governorship primaries for the House of Assembly will take place on May 27, 2026, while the presidential primary is set for May 29, 2026.

The sale of nomination forms will commence on May 6, 2026, and conclude on May 16, 2026. Submission of completed forms will occur from May 17 to May 18, 2026.

Screening for House Assembly governorship aspirants is scheduled for May 20, 2026, with presidential aspirant screening on May 22, 2026. Results will be announced on May 23, 2026, followed by an appeal process for governorship aspirants on May 24 and presidential aspirants on May 25, 2026.

The final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 26, 2026. The nomination fees are set at ₦3 million for House Assembly aspirants, ₦5 million for House of Representatives aspirants, and ₦10 million for Senate aspirants, with a total of ₦25 million for governorship aspirants.
