Labour Threatens Strike Over Alleged Victimisation of Workers in Akwa Ibom State

The Akwa Ibom State branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to embark on a strike in solidarity with four workers allegedly victimized by the State Assembly Service Commission (ASC). The workers were reportedly demobilized and left without proper postings, leading to accusations of workplace diabolism.

The NLC's proposed strike, scheduled to start on September 14, 2025, aims to press for the implementation of owed cash and pension payments to affected workers. The decision to strike was made following failed attempts to reach an amicable resolution with the state government, as highlighted in a communique signed by the state NLC chairman, Comrade Sunny James.
