Labour Unions Declare Strike To Begin On Monday In Taraba

Labour unions in Taraba, under the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, have announced a strike set to commence on Monday. The decision comes after the state government reportedly ignored their demands and threatened union representatives.

During a press briefing, union leaders Peter Jediel and Sule Abasu stated that the strike was in response to the exclusion of workers from a biometric data capture exercise, which they claim led to the identification of "ghost workers." The unions accused the state government of engaging in illegal practices and failing to address their concerns despite an earlier ultimatum. The strike is expected to continue indefinitely until the issues are resolved.
