Lack Of Accountability: Gombe Athletics Academy Withdraws From National Youth Games In Asaba

Gombe Athletics Academy (GAA) founder Ahmed Shuaibu warned athletes of disciplinary action if they participated in the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba. The Academy decided to boycott the Games due to the Sports Ministry's lack of accountability for funds released by the Gombe State government.

The Academy also expressed concerns about the state officials' attitude towards their activities, including the decision to boycott the Gombe Schools Athletics Competition. The Academy accused state officials of betrayal, citing instances where they allegedly disconnected electricity and hindered their operations.

Despite efforts to seek support from the government, the Academy faced challenges, including the lack of a secretary in the State Athletics Association. The Academy also highlighted issues with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) elections and the lack of recognition for their efforts in training young athletes.

Despite these challenges, the Academy remains committed to developing athletes and representing Gombe State.
