Fayose Links Nigeria's Population Growth to Power Issues

Ayodele Fayose, the chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, linked Nigeria's increasing population to inadequate electricity supply. During an interview with Arise News, he explained that poor power supply restricts nightlife and recreational activities, causing people to remain indoors after dark.

Fayose noted that after 7 PM, the absence of electricity leaves individuals with limited entertainment options, prompting them to go to bed early. He stated, “Everybody is engaging their wives.

And the population simply becomes double,” attributing this trend directly to the lack of electricity. Fayose argued that improving electricity supply would enhance evening routines by fostering nightlife and other activities, allowing people more alternatives for recreation.

He emphasized that addressing the electricity issue would significantly change social dynamics in Nigeria.
