Fayose Inaugurated as Chairman of Rural Electrification Agency

Ayodele Fayose was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) on a Friday in Abuja, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu. The inauguration was conducted by the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, and included other board members such as Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Mr Ilyasu Makinta.

Mr Abba Aliyu was appointed as the Managing Director of the agency. Fayose expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity and outlined his immediate focus on advancing the agency's objectives by securing necessary funding for its programs.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the impact of electricity access is felt by communities, stating that the REA's responsibilities extend beyond mere electricity provision. Minister Tegbe highlighted the need for the electricity sector to measure the benefits to communities rather than just power generation metrics, underscoring the REA's role in broader economic development.
