Rivers LG Chair Accused of Organizing Assault on Activist

Winni Mila accused Eugen Epel, the chairman of Ahoada West Local Government in Rivers State, of orchestrating an assault against her following her social media post on March 1, which included a video showcasing the dilapidated condition of a secondary school in Oduoku Community. Mila claimed that after the video went viral, Epel confronted her mother and allegedly instructed his brother, Mon Dichita Epel, to assault her as a means to damage her reputation.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday at noon during a church service. Mila stated that Mon Dichita attacked her in her compound, resulting in neck injuries.

She alleged that Epel was present during the assault and did nothing to intervene. In response, Epel denied the allegations, asserting that the situation escalated due to a misunderstanding and that he did not participate in any physical assault.

He emphasized that Mila's injuries were accidental and urged the public to understand the dispute as an internal staff discipline issue rather than malicious intent.
