Rivers LG Chairman Accused of Ordering Attack on Aide

The Ahoada West Local Government Area in Rivers State is embroiled in controversy following allegations against Chairman Eugen Ekpel, who is accused by former media aide Minni Ogadinma of ordering an attack on her. The conflict began when Ogadinma shared a video on social media depicting the dilapidated state of the Odioku secondary school, aiming to draw attention to the suffering of students.

Following her post, Ekpel allegedly confronted Ogadinma at her residence, accusing her of trying to damage his image. The situation escalated when Ekpel's brother reportedly assaulted Ogadinma and her mother, leading to injuries.

Ogadinma later stated that she was relieved of her duties as a media aide. The local government council has denied the allegations, claiming they are false and misleading.

Civil society groups have called for an investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need for public officials to embrace transparency and accountability.
