Lagos APC Denies Allegations of Candidate Imposition

The Lagos State chapter of the APC has officially dismissed allegations of a scheme to impose candidates for the upcoming primaries. In a statement issued on Thursday, APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi emphasized the party's commitment to conducting direct primaries unless a consensus is reached through broad consultation.

The allegations originated from a group led by Tund Samson, which accused party leaders, including Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and House of Representatives member Jame Faleke, of compiling a predetermined list of candidates. Ojelabi labeled these claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt to create a false impression of crisis within the party.

He stated there are no clandestine meetings or predetermined lists, asserting that the APC remains guided by electoral laws and internal guidelines. Ojelabi further reaffirmed the party's commitment to internal democracy and urged members to disregard calls from what he termed "faceless groups" seeking political opportunism.
