Lagos APC Stakeholders Reject Imposed Candidate for 2027

Tension has escalated within the Lagos chapter of the APC as stakeholders have rejected the party's move to impose a candidate for the 2027 general elections. They insist on open primaries to determine the party's candidate for the House of Representatives.

A recent shadow primary conducted by a group called Mainland Voice tested the popularity of four aspirants, including incumbent lawmaker Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun, who has served nearly two decades. The results showed Kazeem K.

Omolaja leading with 44 votes, followed by Rasheedat Omolola Essien with 26 votes, while Oshun garnered only eight votes. The stakeholders emphasized the need for internal democracy and adherence to due process, rejecting any attempts to impose a consensus candidate.

The Ebutte Metta West platform has also called for fair opportunities for all aspirants, criticizing the long-standing political marginalization of their area. This situation reflects ongoing debates about leadership transitions and representation within the party.
