Lagos Assembly Inspects Local Government Projects

On June 22, 2026, the Lagos State House of Assembly's Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development began a comprehensive inspection of projects across the 57 local government areas and local council development areas in Lagos State. The committee, chaired by Sanni Babatunde, aims to assess the progress of ongoing and completed projects, evaluate their impact on residents, and ensure that public funds allocated for development are judiciously utilized.

Babatunde emphasized that the oversight exercise is a constitutional duty of the Lagos State House of Assembly, intended to promote accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery at the grassroots level. He clarified that the exercise is not intended as a witch hunt against council administrations but rather to strengthen good governance and encourage efficient management of public resources.

The committee's inspection tour will provide an opportunity to determine whether projects are executed according to approved specifications and align with residents' needs.
