Lagos Assembly Halts Makoko Demolitions Amid Protests

The Lagos State House of Assembly has yielded to pressure and suspended the planned demolitions of houses in the Makoko area. The decision came after a series of protests against the demolitions by activists and residents.

Noheem Adam, a major leader in the House, announced the suspension, stating that stakeholders would be properly engaged to review the issues surrounding the demolitions. Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa emphasized the seriousness of the matter and called for an immediate halt to the ongoing demolitions.
