FG Advocates for Nationwide Digital Health Solutions

Dr. John Ovuoray, Director of Health Plan Research Statistics at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, emphasized the need for a nationwide scale-up of proven digital health solutions during the Africa Digital Health Summit in Abuja.

He noted that digital tools can provide near real-time information to help policymakers quickly identify challenges and potential solutions. Ovuoray called for the development of a specific report outlining timelines and technical processes required for broader implementation.

Paul Bhuhi, Managing Director of Vantage Health Technology, expressed concerns that many digital health projects across Africa have failed to move beyond pilot stages despite significant resource investment. He highlighted the importance of building solutions designed for national adoption and long-term sustainability.

Dr. Jerome Mafeni from the Network for Health Equity Development stressed that sustainable digital transformation requires strong partnerships, government ownership, and quality data.
