LAWMA Clears Refuse in Oshodi After Complaints

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) began clearing refuse in Oshodi after reports highlighted health risks due to accumulated waste. This initiative followed a directive from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for immediate waste evacuation across Lagos.

Observations on Thursday indicated significant improvements in vehicular movement and a reduction in offensive odors, although some waste remained. Traders in Oshodi market, such as Mr.

Ayeni and Okechukwu, expressed appreciation for LAWMA's response to their complaints, noting that the environment was cleaner than the previous week. Heavy-duty equipment was deployed to expedite the cleanup, which started on Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday.

Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director of LAWMA, confirmed that a substantial portion of the accumulated refuse had been cleared and that operations would continue until the area was fully restored. Residents were urged to cooperate with the agency to maintain a clean and safe environment.
