LAWMA Seals 24 Facilities in Lekki for Waste Violations

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has identified and sealed 24 markets and commercial facilities in the Lekki axis for failing to comply with waste management regulations. This action was announced by Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

The enforcement followed a monitoring and enforcement exercise conducted on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, by the LAWMA Project WISE team, in collaboration with officials from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), military personnel, and the Nigeria Police at the Eleganza and Issa Imamu Market areas of Ajah. Dr Gbadegesin stated that the identified facilities were listed for compliance enforcement due to persistent violations of approved waste management requirements.

He emphasized that LAWMA would continue to engage with operators and monitor their compliance before taking further enforcement actions against those who remain defaulters.
