Lagos Diverts Traffic for 12 Weeks on Expressway Reconstruction

The Lagos State Government has initiated a traffic management plan for the reconstruction of a section of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, specifically between the Super Bus Stop and Ilepo Bus Stop, which will be closed to traffic from March 7 to May 30, 2026, spanning 12 weeks. This announcement was made in a statement signed by Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport.

Motorists heading towards Lagos from Abeokuta via the Sango Tollgate are advised to utilize alternative routes. Three options are provided: Option 1 involves diverting through the BRT corridor at Super Bus Stop; Option 2 suggests using Ekoro Road and Old Otta Road; and Option 3 recommends the Abule Egba Underbridge to connect to Agege.

The opposite carriageway will remain open for traffic throughout the construction period. The government urges motorists to remain patient and comply with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor to ensure smooth project execution.
