Lagos State Enhances Police Unit with New Equipment

The Lagos State Police Command has received additional operational assets from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) as part of preparations for the launch of a new Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU). This initiative is part of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, implemented under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The assets presented include two operational vehicles, fifty ballistic helmets, fifty bulletproof vests, and fifty ballistic shields, all aimed at enhancing the operational capacity and safety of personnel in the newly established unit. The Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Dr.

Ayodel Ogunsan, reaffirmed the continuous support for security agencies in the state. In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and LSSTF for their support, emphasizing that this equipment will significantly boost the unit's readiness to respond to violent crime and improve public safety across Lagos State.
