Lagos DSVA Raises SGBV Awareness in Local Communities

On Sunday, the Lagos State Domestic Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) conducted a sensitization program in Oloko Community, Iju Ishaga, and Ifesowapo Community, Ijay, aimed at raising awareness to prevent sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). The agency engaged community members through representatives Mr.

Akind Emmanuel and Mr. Tolani Adegboyega, who enlightened participants about various forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, emotional, and economic violence.

They highlighted the available support services for survivors and explained the appropriate reporting channels. The DSVA urged attendees to promptly report cases of abuse using their toll-free line, 08000 333 333, and emphasized a zero-tolerance message.

Community leaders, Chief Mathew Oloko and Chief Wahab Saliu Adisa, expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as crucial in addressing the long-standing societal menace of SGBV. The program attracted 25 participants, strengthening community collaboration and reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in preventing and responding to SGBV at the grassroots level.
