Lagos State Expands Social Register for Vulnerable Residents

The Lagos State Government is intensifying efforts to strengthen its social protection framework by expanding its social register, as announced in a press statement on the government's Facebook page. This initiative, led by the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, focuses on engaging local communities to update the state’s single social register.

The update, which took place at Radio Lagos Multipurpose Hall in Agidingbi, Ikeja, aims to improve the accuracy of the register, which is a critical tool for delivering targeted social interventions, including financial support, healthcare, and educational services. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olayinka Ojo, emphasized that the register is central to effective service delivery and will be refined to reflect evolving realities.

The government plans to expand access to social protection programs and improve targeted interventions for vulnerable populations, with advocacy efforts set to scale throughout all 57 local government areas and local council development areas.
