Lagos State Allocates N2.13bn for Residents' Welfare in 2025

In 2025, the Lagos State Government allocated N2.13 billion to assist 3,301 vulnerable residents through the Eko Care financial assistance program, as disclosed by Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement.

This initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to deepen social intervention and strengthen grassroots governance. The Eko Care program targets indigent residents, students, small business owners, persons with disabilities, elderly citizens, and vulnerable households.

Since its inception in 2020, the program has benefited a cumulative total of 11,991 households, with total disbursements exceeding N4.6 billion. The 2026 budget allocates N3.14 billion for this program, reflecting the government's commitment to sustaining welfare support amid economic challenges.

Additionally, the government distributed 20,000 food packs across 20 local government areas to cushion economic hardships, impacting approximately 100,000 residents, particularly widows and low-income families.
