Lagos Govt Denies Rumors of Sanwo-Olu's Resignation

The Lagos State government officially responded to rumors about Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's resignation, which circulated widely on social media. In a statement released on Tuesday, April 28, 2023, the government clarified that there is no truth to the claims that the governor was pressured to resign due to health issues.

Gboyega Akosile, the governor's special adviser on media and public affairs, emphasized that the reports were intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension across the state. He assured that Governor Sanwo-Olu is in good mental and physical condition and continues to carry out his duties effectively.

The statement also addressed a meeting held earlier that day between the governor and his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, which was described as routine and not related to any health crisis. The meeting included discussions about the upcoming 2027 governorship race, further dispelling any notions of a crisis surrounding the governor.
