Lagos State to Enhance Security with Surveillance Drones

The Lagos State government has unveiled a plan to deploy surveillance drones as part of efforts to enhance security and intelligence gathering across the state. Mr. Ayodel Ogunsan, Chief Executive of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, disclosed this initiative during a press briefing on Monday, marking his first 100 days in office.

The initiative aims to strengthen aerial monitoring and improve rapid response to security threats. The Trust Fund is preparing to enter a memorandum of understanding with the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria Police Air Wing to facilitate coordinated airbase security operations across Lagos.

This partnership will involve deploying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly referred to as drones, which will significantly boost surveillance coverage and intelligence collection among security agencies. Ogunsan emphasized the need for continuous investment in modern security infrastructure to protect lives, property, and economic activities in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial hub.

The Trust Fund plans to expand its financial capacity, introduce a statewide training program for security personnel, and rehabilitate previously abandoned armored personnel carriers.
