Lagos State to Deploy Drones for Enhanced Security Measures

Lagos State has announced a plan to deploy surveillance drones as part of a partnership with major security agencies to bolster intelligence gathering and enhance security measures across the state. Mr. Ayodel Ogunsan, the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, disclosed this initiative during a press briefing on Monday, commemorating the first 100 days of the state’s office.

The initiative is designed to boost aerial surveillance and improve the state's capacity for rapid response to security threats. The Trust Fund is set to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria Police Air Wing to enable coordinated aerial security operations throughout Lagos State.

This collaboration will utilize unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, to enhance surveillance and strengthen intelligence gathering. Ogunsan emphasized the need for ongoing investment in security infrastructure to safeguard lives, properties, and economic activities in Nigeria's commercial capital.

Additionally, the Trust Fund plans to roll out a statewide training program for security personnel to enhance their professional skills and service delivery.
