Lagos Celebrates Gbolahan Oki's Legacy in Urban Renewal

The Lagos State Government honored Gbolahan Oki, a retired permanent secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, for his significant contributions to urban renewal during a ceremony held on Friday at the Whitestone Event Centre, Oregun. Oki, who served for 26 years, was described as a legend and a diligent public servant by Lagos State Head of Service Olabod Agoro, who praised his bravery and commitment to the development of Lagos.

Various officials, including Samuel Egub, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, and General Manager of Lagos State Building Control Agency Gbenga Florenc, commended Oki's selfless dedication and the positive impact he had on the lives of Lagos residents. Oki joined the Lagos civil service in March 2000, rising through the ranks to become the first indigenous Chief Resilience Officer from 2019 to 2021, and held the position of permanent secretary until his retirement.
