Lagos Launches Digital Emergency Response System

The Lagos State Government has introduced the Lagos Emergency Response Management System (LERM) to enhance emergency response efficiency across the state. The system was unveiled by Folarin Coker at a staff clinic conference in Alausa, Ikeja.
Gbenga Oyerind, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Government Relations, described the initiative as a significant step towards making Lagos safer. The platform aims to solve challenges faced by different emergency agencies that often operate separately.
It integrates multiple emergency response services, including the Eko Help distress platform, allowing residents to report emergencies via mobile apps and USSD channels. The system is designed to reduce the average response time from 12-13 minutes to 5-7 minutes, aligning with global standards.
Sesan Ogundeko emphasized that the system will automatically transmit locations to responders, eliminating delays. Giwa Kennedi highlighted the platform's use of artificial intelligence to improve response efficiency and reduce false alarms, ultimately enhancing real-time monitoring and resource deployment.
