LSFRS Launches Fire Marshal Club to Boost Safety in Lagos

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) inaugurated a Fire Marshal Club over the weekend, aimed at strengthening community participation in fire prevention and emergency response across the state. The event commenced with a safety walk that started at the service headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, and proceeded back to the Ikeja fire station via a designated route.

This exercise was designed to heighten public awareness of fire safety, promote emergency preparedness, and encourage proactive community engagement to prevent fire outbreaks. During the inauguration, Margaret Adesey, the head of the general service, disclosed that fire-related incidents remain a concern in Lagos State, although there has been a slight reduction in recorded cases from 2024 to 2025.

She noted that while complete eradication of fire outbreaks is not feasible due to multiple contributing factors, adherence to safety regulations and community involvement can significantly reduce incidents. The Fire Marshal Club is recognized as a voluntary community-based service that aligns with global approaches to fire prevention.
