Lagos Launches Aerial Patrols to Combat Crime Effectively

The Lagos State Government has initiated aerial surveillance patrols to bolster crime fighting efforts across the state. This initiative, launched by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), aims to deepen intelligence-led policing and improve overall security architecture.

Ayo Ogunsan, the LSSTF Executive Secretary, described the aerial patrols as a critical step towards modernizing security operations in Lagos. The first operation involved low-altitude patrols over Lagos Island and the mainland, showcasing rapid response capabilities.

The patrols are designed to monitor crime-prone areas in real-time, enhance situational awareness, and improve coordination among security agencies. The maiden flight marks the beginning of a sustained program rather than a one-off exercise.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu supports this initiative, which is expected to send a strong message to criminals that their activities will not be tolerated. The patrols, led by Martin Nwogoh of the Nigeria Police Force Air Command, cover extensive parts of the state, including Makoko and Yaba, and are part of a broader strategy to deploy innovative security solutions.
