Lagos Motorists Struggle with Collapsed Access Road

Motorists in Lagos are experiencing significant difficulties due to a collapsed access road on the Abeokuta Expressway, which links to the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. During a visit to the site on Saturday, motorists, including Suleiman, reported that the damaged section forces drivers to slow down, leading to traffic congestion.

The situation has deteriorated following recent rainfall, which submerged the collapsed portion under floodwaters, making it challenging for drivers to identify the extent of the damage. Gilbert Adebayo described the area as dangerous, warning that the poor visibility at night could lead to robberies.

Joseph Okonkwo expressed concern that the damage could worsen if not addressed promptly, as vehicles are forced to navigate a single path around the affected area. Motorists are urging the Ministry of Works and relevant agencies to carry out immediate repairs to prevent further deterioration.

Adesina Odunuga, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Works, did not respond to calls or text messages regarding the situation.
