Lagos Police Arrest 135 Cultists, Seize 26 Firearms

The Lagos State Police Command conducted a series of coordinated raids that resulted in the arrest of 135 suspected cultists and the recovery of 26 firearms. The operation was directed by the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, and involved various units, including the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and area command divisions.

According to the police public relations officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the raids were initiated based on credible intelligence indicating that rival cult groups were planning attacks and engaging in criminal activities across the state. During the operation, officers recovered 16 dangerous weapons, including cutlasses, battle axes, daggers, knives, cultist insignia, assorted charms, 11 bottles of different alcoholic brands, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, illicit drugs, and six mobile phones.

The police are currently investigating to identify and apprehend additional members of the criminal gang, with suspects set to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
